Welcome to the Mountain Man Gourmet “Live Well” section; if you want to Live Well, Eat Well, and Be Happy, you are in the right place!

In my view, living well is more than just making a bunch of money, eating tasty food, and having sex on a regular basis.  Well, of course all or any of those three could and maybe should be a part of living well, with the proportions differing depending on what phase of life you’re in at the time.

In fact, if we think about having an integrated, functional, and harmonious mind, body, and spirit, there are a bunch of other things we should focus on as well.  That’s what this section of the website is all about, so please bookmark this page and check back often to see what’s new!

p.s. Be sure to also check out our “Eat Well” and “Be Happy” sections!

Good Health Through Nutrition

In this section, you’ll discover ways to prevent or even cure ailments and illnesses by modifying your diet to include foods with healing properties.  Pretty cool, eh?

Movies!

One of the best ways to Live Well, I believe, is to cultivate talents and skills in, and/or at least cultivate an appreciation for, the arts.  You know, painting and sculpture and photography and poetry and fiction and film and . . . you get the picture.

Of course we will get to the others in due course, but for now let’s think about film, and its ability to both take us to places and help us experience time periods and cultures we might never experience on our own, as well as to conjure up emotions and memories from the past.

What you’ll find in this section are not quite movie reviews and not quite short stories, but I hope you enjoy reading them and that you can relate to some aspect of the content.  If my heart can touch yours through these words, and if you glean some hope or insight or even just a smile across your lips, then we are both blessed and living well, are we not?

Music!

In 2017 I made a conscious decision to put all other projects, including my career as a performing songwriter, on hold in order to devote 100% of my time to building the Mountain Man Gourmet brand.

Music is in my blood, though, so hopefully I’ll be back in the studio soon to record a new CD of my “story songs.”

In the meantime, you can hear samples and order my previous CDs here:

Nature!

To say our family has a love affair with nature is quite the understatement. We live adjacent to the Cibola National Forest in New Mexico, and our property is certified as a Wildlife Habitat.  Here are a couple of pics of what goes on in our “yard.” Hope you enjoy!

Books!

Ah, books–what can I say?

When I was in elementary school, I would check out the maximum of 3 books per week at the local library.  In college, I had a part-time job shelving books at the college library.  And as an adult, I spent three decades teaching university students how to write, speak, and read critically, and as “The Singing Poet Guy” I’ve performed for thousands of young people in over a dozen states, with my one-man show consisting of songs, poems, stories, and dramatic monologues designed to encourage young folks to go to the library, check out a book, and read it!

You can check out my (sadly outdated) Singing Poet Guy website here:
