If you are one of those guys whose wife cooks you dinner every night, then this  recipe is for you.

If you’re one of those guys who cooks your wife dinner every night, then this recipe is for you.

If the economy has hit you hard and you’re one of those guys who likes to take your partner out or order food, but you can’t quite afford it this week, then this recipe is for you.

If you are one half of one of those busy or lazy couples who typically eat out or buy take-out or order pizza or Chinese food often, then this recipe is for you.

If none of the above apply, but you’d just like to surprise your spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend or just have a “fun” date night at home, watching a favorite movie while eating an easy, yet healthy and tasty meal, then THIS RECIPE IS FOR YOU!

Here’s all you need:

  • 1 package of pita bread (be sure to buy whole, not halved pitas—hint: whole wheat is healthier and holds up better if you load it up)
  • Cheese (any kind—try combining different types)
  • 1 tomato
  • Some veggies, such as
    • Onion
    • Fresh garlic
    • Chives
    • Mushrooms
    • Peppers
    • Olives
    • Herbs, such as basil, oregano, etc.
  • Optional: Salad
    • Gourmet Guys: Chop it yourself while chopping pizza toppings
    • Busy or Lazy Guys: Buy a bagged, pre-washed salad at the store

Seven easy steps:

  1. Open the pita bread package, take them out of the plastic, and place desired number of pieces on a foil-lined pan
  2. Cover each piece with sliced, shredded, or crumbled cheese
  3. Chop the tomato and scatter a few pieces on top
  4. Chop the other veggies and place in small bowls or piles on the counter
  5. IMPORTANT: ASK HER what she wants on it, or let her make her own
    1. WARNING: This could erupt into a silly or even erotic food fight; don’t worry, as the ingredients will keep for an hour or so if you end up having an “appetizer” before dinner!
  6. Place in a pre-heated 450 degree oven for 8-10 min.
    1. WARNING: KEEP AN EYE ON IT, as every oven is different
  7. Take them out, let them cool for a couple of minutes, and enjoy!

NOTE: You can use an infinite number and combination of ingredients—have fun exploring different combos! The pita pizza shown here has a “Greek” theme.  I made it with feta and Romano cheeses, Roma tomatoes, onion, fresh garlic, banana pepper, red pepper, green olives, and fresh oregano. Yumbo, eh?
